Athens is about twenty miles east of our base in Winder, and the Athens area, including Clarke County and the counties around it, is part of the ground S5 Earthworks covers regularly.

Athens is the largest city on the east side of our service area, and the land around it is a mix of in-town lots, acreage on the county edges, and development sites where the city has been growing outward. The work we do here runs the full range: clearing and grading a single homesite lot, mulching overgrown acreage on the outskirts, and clearing larger tracts so the grading phase can start.

On a lot inside or close to town, the job is usually tight and the finish matters. Neighbors are close, the house footprint is fixed, and the lot needs to be ready for a builder on a schedule. That's exactly the kind of project our turnkey homesite service is built for: one contractor takes the lot from wooded to graded, with the stumps and debris ground on site instead of hauled through a neighborhood load by load.

On the rural side of Clarke County and into Oconee, Madison, and Oglethorpe counties, the calls are more often about acreage. Forestry mulching opens up grown-over ground quickly and leaves the chips in place. Full clearing and grading come in when there's a house, a barn, or a driveway in the plan.

Athens-area lots often come with the logistics question of what to do with the debris. Burning is rarely practical in or near town, and hauling raw debris out of a tight lot means truck after truck. Our horizontal grinder solves that by turning the stumps, tops, and brush into mulch right on the site. It's quieter for the neighbors than a burn pile, it leaves no scar on the lot, and the chips can stay on site or leave in far fewer loads. That's the standard approach on our homesite jobs.
